Plan Your Visit
Thank you for your interest in Community Foursquare Chapel (CFC). Going to a new church for the first time can be somewhat daunting, not knowing what to expect. We will try to answer some questions you might have about our fellowship and give you a sense of what you will experience on your visit with us.
Time and Location
CFC is located at 119 East 9th Street, one block east of the stoplight at Subway and Advent Health Clinic on Main Street. Sunday Service starts at 10 AM with pre-service fellowship in the annex with coffee and donuts from 9:15 to 9:50.
Atmosphere
We are a casual congregation – no need to dress up! Our desire is to connect with God, not impress Him.
Parking
There is parking behind the church (north side) with several handicapped spaces and easy access to the sanctuary and fellowship hall. We also have a parking lot across the street on the east side of Hickory Street.
First-time Visitor Gift
We appreciate our visitors and want to give you a nice gift bag and information about our church. Our Hostess will ask you to complete a visitor card so we can connect. You can also leave a prayer request or ask to connect with the Pastor on the card.
A Friendly Congregation
CFC has developed a genuine culture of fellowship and inclusion. Expect to be greeted by several people and introduced to several more. We really want you to feel welcome and comfortable as you worship with us. Our Pastor will introduce himself personally.
The Coffee, Tea (and occasionally a donut) is on Us
Come early for coffee or tea in the annex. The fellowship area is open from 9:15 to 9:50 with coffee and tea, and a casual time to meet and greet. The THIRD Sunday is DONUTS-WITH-DONNA-Day. Donna, our hospitality coordinator, brings fresh donuts for everyone. Occasionally, someone else will bring goodies, but you can always count on a variety of great donuts on the Donuts-with-Donna-Day.
Our Worship
Our live worship band leads us in a mix of contemporary worship music, cherished hymns, and well-known Christian choruses from the past 30 years. There’s something for everyone. You are encouraged to worship in any way that ministers to your spirit. You may see someone raise their hands or go to the altar for a time of personal worship and prayer.
Communion
We serve Communion on the first Sunday of each month. We are inclusive; any born-again Christian is welcome to take part in our Communion Service.
Offerings
We have a time of giving, like most churches. Offerings are free will. You won’t hear a long speech persuading people to give. In fact, as a first-time guest, we want you to know that we do not expect you to make a financial contribution. We are here for you.
Teaching and Ministry Time
We believe the Bible is authentic, accurate, and authoritative when God gave it to the original people who wrote it down. It has been said, “The Bible doesn’t need to be rewritten – it needs to be reread with the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Pastor Steve teaches both solid Biblical principles and practical life applications. We ask one question each Sunday: “What did God say to you today?” You can expect to be informed, enlightened, encouraged, and – more often than not – challenged to grow in your spiritual journey.
Personal Ministry Time
There are several times during the service when we anticipate the Spirit of God ministering directly to people. During worship, we encourage people to “hear what God is saying to you.” Someone might go to the altar to tune into God more clearly. There may be a testimony or a short word of encouragement from someone in the congregation. During the message, Pastor Steve may stop to pray for the entire congregation about a specific issue God is focusing on. After the teaching time, we always set aside time for you to respond to what God has said or to ask for prayer. We offer personal prayer for whatever your need is, body, soul, or spirit.
Thursday Night Interactive Bible Study
We also meet on Thursday nights at 5:30 for more in-depth Bible study. Don’t expect a monologue. Pastor Steve teaches as Jesus did – by often asking questions, causing you to think about the answers rather than providing the answers. We encourage participation through sharing your insight or asking questions. Everyone is welcome, and the coffee, tea, and sometimes goodies are on the house.
